JULY OPEN STUDIOS

“Journey” part of a new tryptych of river inspired works to be launched at Open Studios 2016

The first week-end in July is traditionally Open Studios time in Brockley. I have been taking part every year since 1997 – that’s 19 years WOW! I love taking part because it prompts me to tidy up my studio and clear the hall so I can welcome visitors to my mini pop up gallery. This is a good opportunity to see a large selection of my artworks all in one place, and if you are looking for a bargain, much of the work will be at reduced prices to help me clear some space. This year I’m having a £30 “Clearance Corner” including some quite large framed pieces. The frames alone are worth more than that! First come first served.

As a “textural artist” I always choose materials that feel good to touch!

Over the years, I’ve seen that many families like to visit the OpenStudios, and as an ex-teacher, I know kids can get bored while their parents look around so I always provide a “Creative Area” for kids (of all ages) to have a go at creating something.

GROUP EXHIBITION at St Peter’s: For the second year running, St Peter’s church on Wickham Road is kindly hosting a group exhibition where you can see samples of work from most of the exhibiting artists. This is a great place to start your tour, as you can then decide which studios you want to visit. The Private View is on Weds 29th June from 6-9pm
